5G

5G technology is the latest wireless network technology that offers a number of advantages over its predecessor technology, namely LTE. What are the benefits of 5G technology? 5G technology ensures faster data transfer speeds over 4G technology with a very low latency rate of up to 1 ms.

With this minilab in the future, it opens the potential for exploration of various usecases that Telkom can adapt to deliver 5G-based services. The potential usecase that is currently being initiated and developed is about SD-WAN and V-CDN usecase.

With this capability, 5G technology has the potential to facilitate various usecase implementations such as IoT (Internet of Thing), Smart Home, Smart City, Industry 4.0. Therefore, Telkom as a digital telco company is also preparing a 5G network and one of them is building a 5G minilab in the Digital Business Division located in Gegerkalong.

Broadly speaking, the 5G network consists of the 5G Radio Access Network, IP Transport, Edge Cloud, Core Network, IP Router, Network Orchestrator segments and is supported by various technological innovations in it such as network slicing, segment routing, infrastructure automation, infrastructure virtualization.
